Hello, I am from Russia and just moved to America so I am sorry for my English. me and my American husband have been married for a year, I am 18 and he is 39. He has expressed to me many time that he is unhappy with his weight and I am very worried about him and think it is making him depressed. I try to make him healthy Russian meals but he is very picky and only wants me to make lazy American food. He agreed to try this diet if I do it with him. My question is will I lose weight if I do it too? I am happy with my weight and don’t want to lose any but I also don’t want him to feel alone doing this. Please help he is very fat I am worried.

You can certainly do this diet, and your weight should become normal (whatever that is for you). So, to help your husband, do it with him.

Keto is not all about weight loss, it is about fixing hormones and repairing metabolism. It is a health diet. People get healthy, and then they lose weight (not the other way round), if they have weight to lose.

Go for it, and let us know if you need help. There are a few people on this forum who don’t want to lose more weight, so do some searches and read about the advice they have been given.

It sounds like your husband needs to improve his health, and keto could well be the right path for him.

I was able to gain weight doing keto. It required me to eat beyond satiety and to weightlift.

To maintain your weight, you would get your base protein ( 0.7g / lb of lean mass ) and then increase your fat just enough to stay weight stable. It’s not hard and quite tasty.

My trick to getting more fat was increasing my heavy whipping cream intake. It can easily be added to shakes, smoothies and sauces and is very anabolic. So you can find your own balance.

You will find that your body composition will change though with more lean muscle and less fat. You’ll also have more energy and a clearer mind. You may lose a lot of water in the beginning but it’s just water weight.

Hi Violetsh.

If your picky husband can enjoy and focus on the foods in this list:

… then keto can help him repair his metabolism and how his hormones behave. Eating the food in the list above, real food, will improve the quality of his and your life and certainly give him a very good chance to lose weight.

It’s not likely that you will lose weight. Your body has a pretty good idea of what your set weight should be. Even keto people reach a point where the body says, “ok, that’s enough fat loss” and our hunger will encourage us to eat more to stop those losses. It’s not so much how much we eat that makes us fat, it’s what we eat and how often we eat that does.

It’s more likely that your body will become more efficient with the food you do eat. Your energy levels will be consistent all day. You won’t be hungry every two hours and you will be able to manage cravings for junk food, or stop craving junk altogether.
