Does this sound like a thyroid problem?

Well he didn’t say much to be honest- my dry skin he blamed on my diet  my memory loss and low mood is definitely not illness related, and my lung pain is due to my infection…I’m gonna keep an eye on that. He said I’m only slightly under on folate and I’ve got vitamin D3 on the way to hopefully help with the fatigue.

Sounds like a classic keto diet really.

That doesn’t add up to me. How can a high fat diet cause dry skin?
See how you do with the interventions you are making. If you do too much you won’t know what has worked!
Above all, be your own Bestie, and take care of yourself🙂

Ergh, annoying but I get it.
Labs were fine and symptoms not indicative of anything specific.

If they persist I suggest writing them down, date/times, severity and duration, in case you end up back at the doc’s again. They may just abate though.

Exactly. He said I had some inflammation which could explain why I felt so crappy last week. I’ll just have to monitor it and see where we go.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #108

I would. Your calcium should be fine, as long as you are getting enough salt each day.

And your vitamin D synthesis will be helped by making sure you are getting plenty of saturated fat, because that will help with the cholesterol synthesis, and cholesterol is what vitamin D is made of.

P.S.—Don’t overdo the potassium supplements, because excess potassium (hyperkalaemia) is just as dangerous as deficient potassium (hypokalaemia).

Funny you should say that…since Tuesday I haven’t touched my potassium supplements and guess what!! I feel just fine! Don’t think I need them…it’ll save me some money!!

I’m not going to pay much attention to him…he wasn’t completely sure what keto was :joy: the other docs I spoke to this week were a lot more knowledgeable than him on the subject.
I’m not ruling out that there might be a connection between the two, but more because I’m deficient in something rather than blaming it on keto!

I’m feeling much better now (the vit D deficiency was diagnosed pre-Keto), sometimes I have pancreas issues (not caused by the vit D), that in the past has been aggravated by taking the old supplements I had - I highly suspect it wasn’t the vit D causing the issue, but was the vit D being in corn and soy oil. I am excited about the D & K2 combo I have now, so far no side effects

At higher levels, symptoms of hyperkalemia include:

  • muscle weakness
  • a general feeling of weakness or fatigue
  • nausea
  • muscle pain or cramps
  • difficulty breathing
  • unusual heartbeat and chest pains
    Well spotted @PaulL!

Hi. I suffer from migraines and what you describe sounds like a migraine.
