Does keto diet increase acne and makes the face’s skin looks bad due the high amount of fats that enter the body?

Thank you for your answers

(Jennifer) #2

I’ve experienced a decrease in skin issues since starting keto. My skin has been glowing ever since I started, and my rosacea almost completely went away.

and do you eat a lot of fried foods (omelet, beef, chicken, bacon), and natural oils (coconut, olive oil)?

Pregnant?

I’m inclined to think any increase in acne will be either hormonal due to balancing taking place or a toxin release thing

(Jennifer) #6

Yes, I eat bacon almost every day, and omelettes cooked in butter, ground beef cooked in butter. I use olive oil to make homemade salad dressings. I haven’t tried coconut oil yet, but a LOT of people on this forum love it. From what I’ve experienced personally, eating keto reduces inflammation in the body, which is why I think my skin problems went away.

Testosterone can lead to more acne. But I have found that folks comment on how young I look compared to before, and a lot of that is the improvement to my skin from eating less toxically.

People are different and their skin reacts differently to different factors. The ONLY thing that causes my skin to break out is sugar. When I avoid sugar, my skin is beautifully clear. One bite of sugar=breakout. I know others that only breakout when they eat dairy. People are different.

Yeah. I don’t get it on my face, just my deltoids now. Thanks, test.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #10

I used to have to wash my face off several times a day, it would get so greasy. Now I rarely have to at all. And my hair, which would get so greasy I had to use really strong shampoo to get it clean enough to style, can now go a couple of days without washing. I used to have blackheads everywhere and several pimples going at a time. I haven’t seen a blackhead in over a year, and when I get a pimple, it’s an event.

I may have had a temporary increase in acne when I first went keto, but there was so much going on in my life at the time, that if it happened, I never noticed.

You need to follow my safety rule: “Never ask a woman if she is pregnant, even if you can see a baby coming out of her.” #becauseicareforyoursafety

Two hearts! :heart::heart:

Safety rule #2: Never ask anyone of either sex if the person they’re with is their mother, daughter, son, etc., etc. (anything that implies the relative ages of the parties).

Or just shave your head, I say.

(Allie) #15

Easiest to play it safe and not ask anyone anything, or just be anti-social like me :joy:

That’s the rule I use, my other rule is for normals

I found it lessened mine. as a teen i suffered from cystic acne. so bad i was put on accutane. med is so strong, i had zero breakouts from 21 to 35(when i had my 2nd child). Then i started to suffer from adult acne… ever since i started keto, my acne disappeared.

same here. my adult acne disappearred.
