Doctor scared of High Cholesterol thoughts?

I realise that we have seen this sort of post several times. A female in her 50’s, crossfitter and LCHF for over a year had these results:

total cholesterol: 7.6 mmol/L
Triglycerides: 0.7 mmol/L
HDL-C: 3.0 mmol/L
LDL-C: 4.3 mmol/L
Non HDL-C: 4.6mmol/L
Chol/HDL Ratio: 2.5

Her doctor is concerned about the total and feels compelled to start her on statins (basic fear of the AMA/AHPRA here in Australia). Given her tri/hdl ratio is so good would one be concerned? I have asked her to get a Carotid Calcium score to give her a real isdea of her risk of CVD. Any opinion would be greatly appreciated

Don’t fill the prescription if the doctor insists on writing one.

How were you eating at the time ? My cholesterol lipids went to
crap
when I took a blood test on the 5th day of fasting. :eyeroll:

I might be getting a calcium score done sometime …

 This lady eats LCHF, not quite Keto. I am not personally too worried about her total cholesterol as her other biomarker are pretty awesome. Trig/HDL ratio is fantastic. I have asked her to get a LDL assay to check LDL particle size and ultimately her Carotid Calcium Score  … fundamentally it is the fear mongering that worries me and my concern is that it is hard to disseminate this type of analysis to our gps’ and have them act on it (for fear they will be crucified etc). Gary Fetke’s case, though acquitted, is a case in point. We can ignore the prescription how ever it doesn’t change that precedent that she was to be treated with statins. I’d love her gp to say ‘…try this for three months…’ and re-analyse. If a positive comes out it reinforces our message in the gps’ and patients mind alike. Any way thats me on my soap box

Sure you meant ‘statins’ . It’s keto that treats with lipids.
