OK, I’m seriously bummed right now. I got a letter in the mail to reschedule my dr’s appointment in September due to “schedule changes.” I call to reschedule, and she starts telling me I can pick between 2 names, first names, no Dr. attached to it. Come to find out, my doctor is moving to Oregon and I can only pick between two PAs. None of the other doctors in the clinic are taking new patients, not even current patients of the clinic. She didn’t even know if he, my doctor, was going to be replaced or not! I’m officially without a PCP starting 19 May!
Doctor moving...gah!
These parody videos are only too true. Health care service and costs are a HUGE mess, especially hospitals. I’m not sure when it happened, but emergency care has become virtually unaffordable for most people. What do you do if you break your arm? If you go to the hospital emergency room, not only will you be there for many, many hours; it will cost you a few THOUSAND dollars.
It’s extremely frustrating. I have had horrible luck with PAs here (usually urgent care). Example: Case of bronchitis went diagnosed during two urgent care visits (both PAs) even though I told them I had it and had a history of getting it. Finally got in to see my Dr the next week, he about freaked out because it was “so close” to being pneumonia. Add to that, over a week missed from work.
