Do you think I should strive for lower blood sugar levels?

Been back on keto for about 5 weeks. Last two weeks consistently measure ketones in the blood, usually about .6. This morning was .7 with blood sugar 131. Based on a lot of other measurements I’m very confident the level will be between 100 and 110, I’m very rarely below 100.

I’ve been exercising super intense. Pretty serious strength training. I think the higher glucose levels help a lot. In the past when I did keto I felt great until I tried to do anything strenuous., As soon as I amped up the intensity, bam, my muscles were instantly fatigued. But now my workouts have been just fine. Good strength and endurance like normal.

For those that have never done squat, OMG, they are the most intense exercise there is. But I can do 5 devastating sets and feel normal.

Eat a low-carb, ketogenic diet of whole, real foods, and let your body sort itself out. It is etremely difficult, if not impossible, to out-think a system that has evolved to meet all sorts of conditions over the past two million years (of anatomically modern human species; 3.something billion years, if you want to go back to the origins of life). By now, most of the kinks have been worked out, so long as the inputs to the system are appropriate. (In other words, garbage food in, garbage health out.)

Dr. Paul Mason is a sport medicine doctor with a secondary specialty helping people with metabolic issues (since metabolism is an important part of athletic performance). His clinical view is that the absolute values of serum glucose are not nearly as important as the issue of whether they are staying in a narrow range (healthy) or swinging widely up and down (not healthy).

So trust your body, keep calm, and keto on.

Pretty much my thoughts too. Whole foods, lots of low carb vegetables, no bad fats, plenty of good fats, moderate from unprocessed sources.
