I’m finding that I’m less hungry than I used to be and trying to find a balance. I’m maintaining my recommended protein and having less than 20g carbs. Sometimes I’m too full to eat. Shall I reduce my fat or do I risk going below my calorie intake for weight loss it even being thrown out of ketosis? I hope this question makes sense.
Do you really need to eat a lot of fat to get into Ketosis?
20 carbs is a max, not really relevant to the rest other than food selection.
- Protein is a goal
- Once you hit protein goal eat fat until you are full.
- Try to keep a caloric deficit while eating fat until full.
You are done with step 2, if you are full quit eating, if you get not full, eat fat.
Why eat when we’re not hungry? Our bodies are so intelligent. Finding a balance is a good thing, but I find that things can change from day to day. If you’re not hungry then don’t worry about eating. You’ll probably be more hungry the next day. As long as you’re keeping processed carbs out of your life and eating real food, you should be fine. It sounds like you’re doing great.
At least for me the first and somewhat most complicated routine that needed to be scrapped when I went Keto was the standard concept of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Follow your body and eat Ketogenic to satiety. Eat only when your body tells you it’s hungry and then eat until you are totally satisfied. Your body can only consume so much fat before it tells you to stop, either you push yourself away from the table or you will quickly need to get to a bathroom.
Over a couple of months my body decided I could easily refuel intermittently, sometimes every 12-18 hours at a time or even longer. It’s so incredible to not be driven by the breakfast, lunch and dinner routine. Embrace the fact that your body is now in control of your fuel intake instead of your body being driving by damaging cravings.
Congratulations! You are progressing in Keto really well
