Do lotions contain carbs?

#1

I’ve been eating nearly the same menu and losing daily except last night I put a ridiculous amount of Aquaphor on my feet and wrapped them up and the scale jumped up 3.4 pounds by this morning. The only time I’ve seen that much of a gain in one night was after a cheat day I did a long time ago when I went way over carbs so that must be it. Seems unfair. I just want to see if anyone else ever experienced the same?

Well this certainly ranks up there with the stranger situations I’ve read in this forum. I’ll be watching responses on this one. Good luck.

Did you put on 3 1/2 lbs of lotion?:grin:

lol no probably 1/4-1/2 cup worth approximately. It’s always been good at giving me soft feet but I may have to let that go now.

At first I thought this was going to be a post about someone drinking hand sanitizer lotion. Like Meredith in The Office.

Hope you figure it out but I have to doubt this type of lotion is causing weight gain.

My mother worked in a machine shop when I was a kid and she used to lather her hands and feet in vaseline and put socks over her hands and feet at night. Evidently it prevented cracking and kept her skin soft. Might be quite a bit cheaper than aquafor.

Thanks  Yeah, it is expensive but it does feel very similar to Vaseline.

Please don’t eat aquaphor…

But on a serious note, topical carbohydrate won’t cause glucose to rise.

I think something (probably not lotion related - probably electrolyte related) made your body decide to keep hydrated at a higher level than usual.

Or - broken scale.

Unless you had a crazy allergic reaction to Aquaphor, I think that the weight gain was a coincidence. The best way to check is to try it again in a few days. If you gain 3.4lbs again, then maybe something very weird is going on. I don’t think that will happen.

My body weight can changes by up to 10lbs based on what I eat/drink (I’m looking at you craft beer…):grinning:

Agreed - alcohol is viewed as a poison to the body. Very unpredictable with stress levels, dietary restrictions, caffeine consumption to compensate etc.

If you care at all about getting out of an overweight quagmire, drop alcohol to clear up your picture.

Where are you in your monthly cycle? I suspect that’s far, far more relevant than the lotion.

Weight loss is not a linear progression in any case. If your scale reading is going to mess with your head, you might consider giving away your scale. To someone you don’t like.

Thank you everyone! I didn’t think about my cycle since my doctor gave me a depo shot at the beginning of the month but yeah this is the right time it used to start. Maybe that’s still a thing even with no periods.

Nothing about female biology would surprise me. How you ladies cope is beyond me. My hat is off to you all! :+1:
