Dear all, I have my raw data from Ancestry and appreciate if any of you have used this type of a file on any websites providing some medical insights. Where can I send it? Thank you
DNA screening
I used this site: https://promethease.com/
I don’t remember the process anymore, but you should find instructions there.
I have used both promethease and foundmyfitness.com for doing that, both are about $12. I liked the report from foundmyfitness because they do a lot of leg work for you, tips on foods that will effect your genes etc. Promethease is good for quickly looking up genes when you read about one that might be of interest for you. Both are good and give you a lot of information.
I used promethease and loved it but the results are very geeky and require a lot of time studying them. that is not bad since there are a lot of SNP (snip) reports. A SNP is a segment of dna that gets reported on. Good luck. Don’t freak out. You will likely have some bad genes. I know I do. But their presence does not mean they are expressed (turned on).
I think 23 and Me will give you a couple of free insights if you upload a raw file. They make you agree, basically, not to freak out over the results.
Thank you, I have got my results from this website. Very confusing, not sure how to interpret. I think I need to look at the proportion of good/ bad genes in relation to disease risks. I noticed if I type an organ name or à condition there is a circle appears with red green segments representing the proportion.
There are youtube videos on how to read the report. I spent hours looking at mine and sorted by magnitutude >=4 then >=3 <4 etc.
Did this with bad genes and did this with good genes.
Ive exported dna from 23&Me and used in the following websites…
