Good morning, all! I was reading through the forums yesterday, and came across an interesting post “Does this count as an extended fast?”. Since I was doing a modified 2 day, I read it, and one of the responses posted a link from 2 Keto Dudes called “Why fasting is easier for some people”.
Since every time I post something regarding moderating fat intake (and yes, protein as well!) , I get bashed over the head (virtually, thank goodness!) , I figured I may as well keep up the interesting conversation and jump into this one!
So, I have seen this formula before:
Total weight
Lean body mass
Body Fat (lb)
Metabolic Rate (kCal/day)
Required Metabolic Deficit
Required Metabolic Deficit
Additional fat required
So, in reading that information, I realized, the way I was understanding it (and living it), was that if I keep my intake UP TO my BMR , my metabolism will stay up. I think we all agree with those facts.
So, the post goes on to explain that if our body fat provides 31.5 kcals of energy /lb/day x % of body fat available, then all I need to eat to keep my metabolism running BUT STILL LOSE FAT is that deficit number, whatever it may be for me (13% for me, or 173.4).
So in my mind, that means, and which I have proven to myself over and over again when I go on a fat binge (yeah, like last night after breaking my fast! It was good!), that if I overeat fat PAST MY DEFICIT AMOUNT, that, as well as my insulin level (protein/carb intake), will affect how much weight I lose or don’t lose.
Thoughts?
Now, how TDEE figures in, I haven’t had time to ponder that one…waiting for the next slow afternoon at work!
