Digestive enzymes vs Ketone levels

(Robert R Messerschmidt) #1

Recently my wife and I started taking digestive enzymes to help with gut health. What is very strange is with the both of us we have seen a drastic drop in blood ketone levels. This happened in one day and for the both us it has continued to drop. In my case I have been running at 3.5 to 4.5 for 4 months and in one day dropped to 1.7. As of today I am at .7 blood ketone level and my wife is at .03. We have changed nothing but that in our routine. Has anyone else read or heard of anything like this?

corn starch as a filler in the pills ?

do the experiment again.

Stop the pills.
See how long it takes to Get back to your usual level of ketosis.
stay there for 10 days.

Start the pills again.
See what happens the next time.

0.7 is still pretty good ketosis. FWIW.

Thanks. I wouldn’t have thought corn starch was in there. It’s not listed. However we will be doing what you have advised.

Coincidence, dont worry about it esp since ketone numbers are not a goal and as far as gut health, digestive enzymes are not really going to help much…you want a decent probiotic and maybe even a prebiotic; Don’t go crazy looking for the ones with 30,50,++ billion CFU’s its silly nonsense, a few billion a day is all you need.

Ok. My wife and I have determined that the digestive enzymes had nothing to do with the ketone levels tanking. After checking and rechecking all the past weeks data and eliminating all that we could, there was only one thing left—faulty keto test strips. We use keto mojo meter and test strips for glucose and ketone levels. The day that our levels tanked was the same day we started using a new batch of ketone test strips. We are still in the toilet at .03 for my wife and .6 for myself. This represents a 3 + point drop the first time we used them and it has remained. We have been in contact with keto mojo but so far no joy.
Thanks for your responses and advice.
