Difference between MCT oil and the MCT oil powder, and are they crucial to the Keto diet?

Is there a difference? Is it based on preference? Im literally 3 days in and doing all kinds of research but I get overwhelmed with all the information. I love my coffee in the morning and I’ve tried it with the coconut oil but I just gagged with every sip and ended up chasing every sip with water. Help me…

Certainly not crucial. I have coffee with cream which is fatty enough to keep me going 7ntil lunchtime.

black coffee is fine, MCT is not needed and probably is not even good for you, Coconut oil is an acquired taste and after you do get to liking it you will really like it.

My guess is MCT is made with all the left overs from the cosmetic industry, use the best fat nature has made virgin coconut oil

Surely you mean bacon nectar!

Did I say best, I did mean second best,

Thank you guys. I dont like black coffee, tried many times before Keto even registered in my life. I’ve drinking it with Heavy cream and butter and a teaspoon of sweetner. I still get rather hungry before lunchtime and I usually have my cup around 8:15am, when I leave for work.

Two thoughts:

I have a big bottle of MCT oil and what I’ve found it most useful for is dry elbows. The more I read about it and how it’s most likely processed and how it shouldn’t be used in high heat cooking, the less excited I get about consuming it.

I think bullet proof coffee usually involves a blender / stick blender along with fat - it sounds like it totally changes the texture. Haven’t done it myself, I prefer a shot of HWC, which blends right in rather than floating on top. ETA: I also sometimes use coconut milk, also blends right in but it does have a carb or two.

I have coffee because I like it, if I need fat will cook bacon

You probably already have this all worked out but for people who want to have a bulletproof hot drink, it can also be made with any kind of tea including chai. I’ve also made it with boiling water, a bit of unsweetened cocoa powder, a touch of truvia, dash of vanilla & dash of cinnamon, add the coconut oil, cream, butter (I just us a teaspoon of each) and it makes a nice treat. There are tons of flavored teas that have no sugar or carbs but are a nice change of taste, like Girl Scout Cookie flavors, Mexican hot chocolate… As I got further along, just 2 cups of tea with a teaspoon of heavy cream in each is all I need in the morning.

Neither is remotely crucial. Neither existed before maybe 20 years ago, and certainly not 100 or 1000, much less back to pre-agrarian society.

You do not need MCT anything or bulletproof coffee to be keto.
