Hello
Is diet bitter lemon and diet ginger ale ok to drink freely on Keto? I mostly drink water but need something a bit different now and then I am
Only starting week today 4 but have lost 1 stone in weight already on the scales now, I feel great, can feel inch loss also but in different areas so no massive difference yet! Want it off my lower belly and abdomen the most, that will be the last place it will go from probably? I do get the urge for a sugar rush at evening time but have stayed strong and not cheated. I tend to be more thirsty than hungry these days which is great!
Diet bitter lemon and diet ginger ale( alcohol free)
Some people look askance at artificial sweeteners, because some of them can cause insulin spikes in some people. Experts such as Dr. Phinney aren’t usually in favour of artificial sweeteners (for various reasons), but they generally say that if you need them as a crutch, they’re a lot better than the sugar they are replacing, so go ahead and use them. Probably best not to use them, though, if that is doable for you. Many people find that it is easier to forgo sweet tastes altogether. Do what works for you.
Hello, To answer your question, I think whatever works for someone is the answer. I know there are people here that believe “artificial sweeteners” aren’t good (me being one of them) however, I consider those to be sucralose, aspartame etc. I PERSONALLY don’t have a problem with Monk Fruit Sweetener, so I use it on occasion. I sometimes crave a fizzy drink myself. I do keep a few cans of “Virgils Zero” soda (sweetened with Stevia, erythritol and Monk Fruit) in the fridge for those moments. I make a Tonic daily with:
12 oz Sparkling Mineral Water
2 T Apple Cider Vinegar
2 t Lime Juice
10 Drops Liquid Monk Fruit
It is so good and refreshing! In fact I want some now from talking about it!!
I think do what works for you…good luck!
There are no general rules… Some people are find with these, some aren’t.
I don’t mind certain sweeteners, I just ignore processed stuff with multiple ingredients most of the time. I drink tea made from tea leaves by myself, coffee, limonade… There are more options I enjoy carbonated water too, better than tap water though I have a pretty nice tasting tap water. I like simple.
If you can give it up easily, do it, if it helps a lot, try it, there is a significant chance it will be okay for you. But for the other case too.
You can’t get sugar rush from non-sugary drinks… right? But I don’t know what sugar rush is, to me it’s when I eat sugar and feels worse and a bit enervated, I like to avoid that
It’s not cheating if you don’t go beyond your carb limit IMO but of course, we all have our own extra rules.
The zero cal/sugar soda’s are fine. I drink… let’s say “a lot” of them. Some hate on them because of the artificial sweeteners, but unless you’re a person that actually has an issue with them you’re good.
I am able to drink diet ginger beer and ginger ales with problems. I am not T2D, so most of the keto sweeteners work fine for me. Water can get old. And mule cocktails made from diet ginger beer and vodka are awesome summer treats. I don’t drink them all the time but as a treat they work fine.
Have you tried adding just sliced lemons/ limes/ mint to your water? Those are good too.
