Did an hour of easy cardio this morning...ravenous tonight - connection?

#1

Been in ketosis for a few weeks now.

.7 on blood meter this morning. Did a hour of easy paced cardio this morning. Ketones were 1.2 before dinner.

I ate what I usually eat for dinner but am now ravenous.

Is this somehow connected to the cardio session, and if so, how, exactly?

Simple. Exercise makes you hungry. Read about it at Dr. Jason Fung’s site. I’m sure there are more scientific explanations that someone will chime in with, but when your body uses up it’s store of energy, it’s looking to replace it.

Thanks, @skinnyjeans13. I will take a look at the IDM site. I also remember Taubes writing about this in one of his books. And, alas, I found this very helpful thread here.

I’m so hungry I forgot to use the search feature.

I’ve always heard it called “Work up an Appetite”, so I try to be careful. LOL

The NY Times has an interesting (and somewhat counterintuitive) recent article on this issue:

I’m firmly convinced that exercise is bad for everyone. :bacon: Fortunately, it’s easy to get enough exercise simply jumping to conclusions.

If your HR was over the aerobic threshhold (180-age), you were probably burning glycogen. Staying below will let you burn fat and build mitochondria.
