Diarrhea worries

#1
  1. When does the diarrhea stop?
    It’s been three days.
  2. What exactly causes the diarrhea?
  3. Is the diarrhea from all of the glycogen that has been stored ? Is it all of the fat being expelled from my body ?

The lethargy is subsidIng. I believe I was dehydrated.
My appetite is not big at all. I push food away.

Please, if anyone can assist with their knowledge I would appreciate it.

Are you using MCT oil or a lot of coconut oil?

#3

Not typically part of the adaptation process, what have you been eating?

Yeah, I’m thinking either you are loading up on MCT oil or you have a bug not related to keto.

I’ve used MCT oil three or four times this past week. Just a half tsp in coffee.
I will stop using it and see if my body adjusts.

Per @Anniegirl9 - maybe MCT oil or a bug (but seems like too little MCT - unless you meant tbsp but people do push food away when they’re sick).

I haven’t seen this problem in the forums.
It might depend on where you came from.

If you jumped into keto from pancake breakfasts, pizza lunches and hungry man frozen dinners with Doritos and candy bar snacks - I could see diarrhea as a result of the shocking change (versus a paleo to keto jump - which probably wouldn’t have anything but minor side effects).

If I were you I’d try to stay hydrated and take in extra pink salt.

I had the problem for weeks. The fix was adding extra vegetables.

The diarrhea will stop, just hard to say when as everyone’s different. Next, you can look forward to being constipated and will pray for diarrhea. Seriously though, your body is just adjusting to a whole new regimen and within a short time you should be on a “regular” schedule. Hang in there!

psyllium husk powder helped me in the beginning. That, and keeping up on my electrolytes. (Almost a year in and I still forget)
