Fucking Arseholes
I only remain a member of Diabetes Victoria as it gets me a significant subsidy on my blood glucose test strips, the savings per year more than cover the membership cost so it saves me a lot of $. Does that makes me as morally & ethically bankrupt as they are? Thinking I should just test a whole lot less, pay full retail price for the strips & tell them to stick their membership up their
arse

I’ve never paid membership dues to Diabetes Australia … still get an NDSS card that gives me 100 gluocose strips for about $4. Although after last July a T2 needs to get a doctors note to allow them to get more.

What @richard said! NDSS is the scheme that allows you to have subsidised glucose test strips. I pay about $16 from memory? If you were a member of Diabetes Australia you could then get a further discount of ten percent off any purchase from their stores including the strips.

It’s all changed now. You can buy the strips at full price for about $54 or buy them at a subsidised rate if you have your doctor complete a special form that gives you six more months. If you are insulin dependent (type one or type two) you can always buy them at a subsidised rate.

I won’t pay for membership of Diabetes Australia any more either.

I knew about the six months supply limit & the need for a Dr to sign off on more subsidised strips as my six months is about to expire so I need to see the Dr soon. I have been operating for years under the mistaken belief that I had to be a member of Diabetes Vic/Aust each year in order to get access to the strips via NDSS. Feeling pretty stupid now! Their diabetes education is great if you want to stay diabetic or get worse, I mean even before I got into lchf & keto my blood measurements told me their “healthy” whole grains etc was a crock. I’m very happy to let my membership lapse now. Thanks @richard & @madaboutchooks
