Dextrose in Salt

(Kitty) #1

Anyone noticed most salt has dextrose added? (Morton’s lite, which is recommended for potassium) Should I be concerned? I use quite a bit to keep my electrolytes up.

very, very, very, very little dextrose. I like too think it turns into glycogen and delivers protien too your muscles and then your low carb diet uses that glycogen in seconds ohh what am I saying XD

it problably just burns the carb off faster than you can say the word “dextrose” but dont worry about it

Many other alternatives with no sugar available. I use gray Celtic or pink Himalayan. I’m too cheap to buy them, but there are a lot of other fancy specialty salts. I’ve heard a lot about Redmond salt, but have not looked into it yet. I’m sure others will chime in with their favorites.

Yes. it is used to keep the salt moisture free.

It’s a very small amount–less than 0.5g. That said, I don’t consume it in my salt intake when fasting. I avoid it when making food myself. I don’t fret it though when I eat food that has it.
