Dexcom over-the-counter CGM (continuous glucose monitor) is finally available in the US:

$100/month seems a bit expensive, though, considering you’ll lose at least some of the sensors. That is, they will fail before 2 weeks are out.

Do I remember correctly that you said you used one that was half that price?

Maybe I should add that my bias is that I really, really hate the subscription model for these things.

Hi Bob, I think it was about half price. But that was also 7+ years ago, bought in Sweden, with a completely different conversion rate. And I don’t know if Sweden subsidizes these (e.g., they think their use is a good idea, so the government pitches in to lower the price).

I still have no idea how these can be over-the-counter in other countries almost a decade ago, yet it takes the US that long to get one. Doesn’t make sense to me.

And now there’s a continuous ketone monitor you can get OTC (over-the-counter) in Europe, but not here. Any guesses on how long that will take to get here?

Like you, I pretty much never do the subscription model. I’d rather buy say 10 of them at once.
