Hey Guys,
I just got my first Dexa scan a few days ago and not happy about it.

I am female, 5’8”, 42 and always thought I am on the dense side and maybe a bit big boned, but the 34.9% was a shock to me. Today I weight 151 lbs, so even if I lose another 10 lbs, that will not put me in the 20’s fat percentage that I thought I was and I don’t think I would want to go below 140 lbs.

Anyone had this experience? Any thoughts?

Find the weight looks and feels good to you, and stop worrying about some pre-determined ideal number.

Don’t confuse BMI with body fat percentage.

And as Khan says, stop worrying about some predetermined ideal number. Strive for your Phinney weight. One you feel good at and can maintain.

Thats essentially what I will be shooting for, thanks for your feedback.
After posting this, I also realized my post might come across insensitive to some that have lots more weight to lose, but of course that was never my intent…

Good article, I will still track both, its data and Im curious to see how the numbers change lets say in one year. Thank you.

Not at all. I think sometimes it is easy to focus on small details, and lose track of the big picture. We’re all here for a reason. And there are may things this WOE can address. But this community values each persons journey equally. It’s a tone set by @carl and @richard. And I think we’re all thankful for that, and try to pay it forward as best we can.
