Devil's Advocate: Keto is a Fad
You must be from Utah or Idaho.
We have melk, not milk
Sell, not sale
Mell, not mail
And no t’s in the middle of words. So button is pronounced with a glottal stop in the middle instead of the t’s
We also seem to believe that one can use the word ‘seen’ without the necessary participle. For example; Utahns are famous for saying ‘I seen that…’
Drives me bananas. B A N A N A S.
That must be a SLC thing as I live in Idaho and don’t know what ya’all r talkin bout?
Low fat, is definitely a fad driven by vanity, but also has detrimental effects. It eventually screws your metabolism, leaves you hungry, causes weight gain, diabetes, strokes, and other diseases.
Keto, is currently a fad amongst some, and driven by vanity, but if you stick to it, it has health, and healing benefits.
The choice is up to the individual. Lose 20 pounds and look great for summer, and fat for Christmas. Or, lose 20 pounds and keep feeling great by eating the same way, without hunger.
The choice is yours. Vanity, or health?
Sure.
One of the most prominent locations for finding these local ‘speak’ discrepancies is the ads on KSL. Even the comment section on KSL.com news will provide these examples. I’m regularly buying from ppl selling in the classifieds and the listings reflect their inability to properly function inside the language.
It always cracks me up when folks from SLC say they have never heard the words mounins when ppl are speaking of mountains, or Laynin when Layton is the topic. No one in Utah has kittens, they all have kinins.
Come on.
Sorry for going so far off topic
Life in the largest city in the second most arid state in the US can get dull
Makes me glad I have keto and this forum
Tonight I learned a whole slew of stuff about how red meat does NOT cause cancer in the colon of any animal in which the study has been conducted
That’s why I’m here
Knowledge is power
And I don’t even eat red meat. I love cows too much. Sorry all you that keto with cows.
Hey! That’s a great band name. Keto With Cows. Somebody tell Kerry, Bill and Gina!
I lived in Rock Springs and then Green River, WY in the early 80’s and went to SLC in the summer to shop and the winter to ski (if the road to Jackson Hole and Targhee weren’t plowed sufficiently)
Loved SLC!
Old joke in medicine:
Q: What’s the difference between a surgeon and God?
A: God knows he’s not a surgeon
I’m not completely down with the evolution argument as support for the low carb/high fat benefits (for reasons too lengthy to list here) but I am down with the evidence that shows how high carb/low fat intake has contributed to if not singly caused the ridiculous increase in diabetes, cancer and obesity in the past 30 years.
