Dealing with Haters

(Matthew Standridge DDS FAGD) #1

Just posted this on the FB page, but wanted to bring it here as well.

So I just recently started a keto blog, ketodontist.com. And I created a corresponding Facebook page.
Already getting hate, this one from from an MD here Kansas. What do you think, and was it responded to well? How do you handle haters? Diplomatic or bash in the head with knowledge?

Good response, with the facts.

Keep it simple and don’t waste anymore time than that. You handled it well IMHO. :yellow_heart:

Hmmmm…me thinks that as a dentist it’s perfectly reasonable for you to weigh in on nutrition, particularly given the impact of sugar (and by extension carbs) on dental health. Unless that’s been debunked now too? Hang in there, it will be worth it in the long run. Best of luck with your new blog!

Excellent response. And for the record my kid’s denstist has never had an issue giving us nutritional handouts about sugar and processed foods and teeth.

This is a tough issue, where dieticians and doctors will sometimes push back with “scope of practice” arguments. Noakes and Fettke are perfect examples. I often think that those of us without professional credentials are better off, because we have no professional associations or licensing bodies breathing down our necks.

Your response sounded perfectly appropriate. The right balance of being polite while making it clear you know what you’re doing and won’t back away from from continuing.

Nicely done!

Well done! I wonder why people feel so threatened by just… information. hahah
