Trader Joe’s sells Neglet Noor dates which are lower sugar than medjool - but only feasible if you’re 100% fat-adapted and not IR and not a food addict.
I use those Neglet Noors (or, sometimes, organic sultanas) to sweeten huge pots of spicy kashmiri chicken, just a handful chopped can go a long way in subtly changing a harsh hot to a sweeter hot, etc. Also do same with indian lemon pickle.
Small amounts of raw honey can be therapeutic/paleo - honeycomb is especially nice because the wax chewing makes you feel like you got more! Several forum members here are beekeepers! But again, only if you’re not vulnerable to being derailed.
Crosscultural keto is real - enjoying certain cultural treasure natural foods rarely, or for special occasions only, can definitely help some folks succeed and be sustainable for the long term. So, cultural sensitivity is part of how I approach LCHF/keto, as food is also emotional and spiritual imho.

Even half of a date is too many carbs for a full day of a ketogenic diet. If your HbA1c is fine, and your weight is already where you want it to be, there is no reason not to eat dates in moderation as part of a high carb diet.
If on the other hand, your blood sugar is poorly controlled, your weight is unhealthy, and you are addicted to sugar (like most of us were), a ketogenic diet may be exactly what you need. Once you get past the first week or two of sugar withdrawal, it’s actually pretty awesome.
Extremely tricky. Almost no one can pull it off, I imagine. Dates are extremely sugary. I don’t know about the less sugary ones but they must be very sugary too. If you can eat a very tiny amount and it helps you, it’s your prerogative but it’s really tricky. It’s hard to imagine someone MUST eat that sugar bomb and a tiny amount satisfy them. But as we have read above, there are exceptional cases when even dates on keto are worth it for someone But you must be super careful if you are serious about keto.
