Daniel fast for HOLY WEEK and returning ASAP!

I wanted to chronicle how I manage the switch from fat-adapted keto to plant fueled for seven days and then return to keto. I was so hoping someone had done this to help me know what I would be up against but I am n=1 on this one. And while fasting is not to lose weight or change nutrition, I do not want to lose ground by gaining weight. Keto works perfectly for me and I am giving it up for the only reason I would and that is for spiritual edification. Pray for me!!!

SW keto 178 Began 01/03/17
SW Daniel fast 156.8 Began 04/09/17
Day 1
I began with a quinoa rice blend and black beans for lunch after fasting breakfast (always on Sundays even before keto).
I expected gastric upset but experienced none.
Continued with plant fuel and nothing abnormal happened.
My hunger has increased and satiety is falling. (smh)
Day 2
Still full of energy in :45 min cardio pump class after fueling pre-workout with 1/2 banana, cranberries and pb. (Workouts are fasted on keto)
Hunger is returning every few hrs and on keto I ate twice a day. Prayer is keeping me focused and faithful. Were it not for that I would be :running_woman:t5::dash::dash::dash: for :bacon::bacon::bacon::fried_egg:

The ‘Daniel Fast’ hasn’t ever made since to me, however, I’m not doing it but you are, so it doesn’t have to make sense to me lol. My question is why aren’t you still keeping your fat intake high through plant sources? Coconut oil, coconut butter, coconut milk, avocados, avocado oil, olive oil, macadamia nuts, almonds, Brazil nuts and so on. And rather than grains, still stick with green leafy veggies, cauliflower, broccoli, egg plant, low carb fruits like berries, star fruit, and such? I think that you can still stick to the guidelines of the ‘Daniel Fast’ and still be keto sans the meat, and these options are a way to make it happen.

Honestly, I think I was looking forward to FRUIT!!! Grains!!! Beans!!! But, I am returning today to keto after a cheat day yesterday. One week was plenty and I have absolutely embraced this WOE and being fat adapted! I ran this morning for the first time since Thursday, (day5 Daniel Fast) and I felt amazing! I want to hurry back through this process so I am keeping my fat and carbs low and I will be running twice a day to burn off the glucose and get back to keto. Is that how it goes? :joy::joy::joy::pray:t4:

Thanks for responding.

You can always do a fast to burn through the glucose and get back into the swing of keto faster or go zero carb for a week or so and indulge in an abundance of fat.

Zero carb was my plan but now fasting appeals too!! Tomorrow is Fast day for me so maybe I will get my fasting workouts done and continue with zero carbs (egg and bacon Fast) to move things along!

I’m not sure what you should expect, that’s really individual. You may experience strong cravings, a lull in energy or whatever. Me, when I’ve gone off plan, my body aches and/or I’ll have night sweats. So, it all depends.

I know this is a year ago but I’m going through this right now. I’ve lost 20 since January 2nd and I’m consistently losing 2 pounds a week. My fast is for 40 days. Did you experience weight gain going from Keto to Daniel fast?
