Dairy Free April

I do the exact same things! It works!

Anyone made coconut sour cream? Any suggestions? I have 1 can of Organic Thai Coconut Milk left, time to go put it upside down in the refrigerator… :joy:

I’m fat-fasting at the moment and I went to Starbucks yesterday and was sooo tempted to get something with HWC after reading about @ron-coleman’s fasting experiment and @Brenda’s Zorntini, but I was strong! :muscle:

Instead I had a half-caff Tall Americano with a sprinkle of cinnamon and it was thoughts of this thread that kept me honest.

Thanks @Jacquie!

Completed dairy free April and will continue dairy free ‘indefinitely’. :grinning:

I’m still artificial sweetener free (since last Dec.) and have joined @BillJay in his Sweetener Free May. Onward!

Hi Jacquie,

I wanted to thank you for your Dairy Free April post! I saw it on my phone back in early April 2018 but since this forum for some reason won’t accept my login on my phone, I can only lurk while there. I saw your post, though, and decided to try it.

I didn’t have high hopes because I had been tested and found not to have the gene for lactose intolerance, and I had never had any issues eating butter, cheese, etc. However, I too had stalled at about 5-7 pounds above my ideal weight and nothing seemed to get the scale moving again. Worse, my extra weight was right around my belly (and in an ectomorph female, this was quite obvious), which is the most dangerous place to carry one’s extra weight.

I substituted goat’s milk butter, goat cheese, and sheep’s milk cheese and was able to cut out all cow’s milk dairy except for heavy whipping cream in my coffee. I tried mightily to find an alternative but nothing cut it, including butter and almond-milk creamer alternatives. I even tried calling local goat farms and health food stores to see if anyone sold a goat’s milk cream. Zero luck. However, I did reduce the amount of cream I was using. Not a lot, but some.

To my surprise, for the first time in a year the scale moved in the right direction! I was able to lose that stubborn 5 pounds at last - and quickly! I was even able to eat (slightly) more carbs, in the form of greens, and (slightly) more protein without gaining weight.

The first morning I tried it, after eating breakfast (my biggest meal of the day; my only other meal is a small dinner) my stomach also felt light after eating. I know that sounds strange and I didn’t think my stomach felt heavy after eating breakfast before, but there was a noticeable difference when I didn’t eat cow’s milk cheese. This continues to be the case.

I do still use the heavy cream and it doesn’t seem to be causing any problems, so the problem must have been something like the casein protein in the cow’s milk cheese.

Anyway, thank you for posting! You helped me find the one thing that was causing my stall after trying every dietary change and supplement I could possibly think of. I must have gone through hundreds of dollars of supplements, none of which worked. Your post was a godsend!

Tiffany
