Daily workplace temptation

The first rule of Keto Club is we don’t talk about Keto Club.:grin:

People will think you’ve joined a cult.

Above all, never mention the mother ship!:rofl:

One of the managers here is doing keto. She was eating pork rinds (the brand I find gross) so I suggested another brand that is way more tasty. I guess you could say we bonded over pork rinds :joy:. That is when she told me about her eating keto. We chat about food now…but I don’t ever speak the word out loud. I just say I’m not eating sugar or grains.

I keep stuff around my desk, but I don’t find it tempting anymore. Fat adaptation is a remarkable thing, but so is longer term LCHF and new habits.

My go to stuff at my desk in the summer are seasoned cheese curds that I get at the Tuesday farmer’s market near work and keep in a fridge near my desk. Nuts that I portion pretty tightly are my non-farmer’s market season desk nosh. Currently have a jug of Marcona Almonds from Costco. I will dump a shallow lid full, which is a serving, at 2g of net carbs and 6g protein. Also like salami and sausage, protein shake and home made egg bites.

If I want nuts or any sort of treat it’s included in one of my two daily meals. If I must eat before the planned meal time I eat the entire meal at that earlier time and make sure I’m very full when it’s done. After that I can almost always hold out for the second meal time.

It looks like they’re trying to turn all the employees into diabetics!

And this is why Coke now says to enjoy a coke but in moderation. Meanwhile they are trying to figure out how put more salt, caffeine and sugar in it to increase cravings.

At my work we have an international food day every couple of months, everyone brings some amazing dish which nobody can resist, it is served 5m from my desk.

So I go and eat before they bring any food out. Salmon, avocado, cheese, nuts … all good keto food and I “eat to satiety” . So I do not face them hungry. I can be sociable without getting ruined.

Whenever there’s a big family gathering with tons of carb food, I do the same. I do not face them hungry either.

I also have a packet of mixed nuts in my draw, so no nearby candy tempts me. I don’t fast so I’m not worried about breaking a fast.

Hopefully some useful ideas.

This is my exact philosophy!!! My coworkers rib me all the time about the way I eat and I’ve touched on my addiction a few times, but finally last week told them my whole story of my addiction and road to recovery. The look on their faces (they’ve always just considered me a “health food junky”) to finally “get it” and realize that I have to do this to save my own life was completely worth it. No guys, I’m not just trying to make you feel guilty when I say I can’t eat it. I. Can’t. Eat. It!
