CRVO-Central Retinal Vein Occlusion

(Richard M) #1

I have CRVO. I’m in my first month. Had my first injection 3 weeks ago. I need to do one per month for 4 months. Then hopefully one every 3 months. I am not diabetic and in the last month my Blood Pressure as been around 140/90. Trying to bring it down naturally with supplements and drinks. Everything I’ve researched has made me fill less optimistic that I will totally get it cured. Making a very conscious effort to have no carbs and to fast 16-24 hours or longer. The only article I read that had light at the end of the tunnel was someone started to run more. my one knee is very bad so I bounce.

Anyone have experience or knowledge into this “issue”? TY

Hi Richard. That blood pressure is indicative that you have some CVD going on. If it makes you feel better, I was right there. I decided to figure it out without prescriptions. I first began adding vitamin K2 daily. Then in the winter I started on 10,000 IUs of vitamin D. My blood pressure started to improve. Next I started a high protein keto diet. That was 5 years ago. The only carbs I ate were cruciferous vegetables and berries in my morning yogurt. This improved my blood pressure greatly, and my vein health also visibly improved. I eventually got my blood pressure down to 98/64 2 years ago. I am now usually in the 110s/70s, although sometimes lower when doing my version of keto. I believe I reversed plaque, and a carotid sonogram last October found no plaque. It can be done. Just stick to it. Remove all sugar from your home. I now have very little processed foods or “sweets.” I do have some sweet foods - sweetened by xylitol, monk fruit, stevia or the occassional allulose.

As far as supplements try adding citrulline to your daily routine - at least a gram. I also use SOD now.

I forgot to suggest nattokinase - assuming the “occlusion” is a blood clot or fibrolytic clot high dose nattokinase may help. To prevent further oxidation in the vascular system unsweetened pomegranate juice can help.

Yes to nattokinase, along with K2 (menaquinone7 or MK7). I take these (and D). And I buy frozen natto at the Japanese grocery.

Your dietary adjustments look like they go the right direction. But you should monitor the easiest manifestation of low carb, that is, your blood sugar, and it’s trends. Buy a Stello or other non prescrip CGM. Get your avg blood sugar (your A1c) in a real healthy range (like 5.0). Of course, as Ben Bikman would point out, you can still have hyperinsulinemia with normal blood sugar …

The other thing is about the fasting. It’s a two handed thing. Yes, training your body to better access and metabolize fat by not constantly eating is a great thing. But on the other hand, eating a whole bunch of food all at once “may” dump so much sugar, and protein, and fat in your blood that your insulin shoots up, and your liver starts manufacturing fat to be deposited. And THAT fat is saturated So I think if yr gonna do a lot of time restricted eating, you should still use that CGM, to see that you’re not going into denovo lippogenesis. One approach there is to eat the slowest digesting things first, like meat and fat, and any carbs go last. The carbs, therefore, get digested more slowly. Here again, the CGM gives the feedback you need.

Good luck to you.
