I need urgent help. my friend is doing keto but is taking Crestor and Lipanthyl. he has been eating a keto diet for two weeks butstillhave not shown ketoon the Urine or the Blood test.

Does Fenofibrate inhibit the release of FFA to the liver to be converted to Ketones.

Than you

I was on Lipitor when I went on keto. No issues but 2 weeks maybe pushing it. Are they on zero carbs? As in the Akins diet I only got into Ketosis by doing Induction. 3 weeks zero carbs. Everyone is different so give it time.

After a three day of a very strict Fat Fast he is still not registering any ketone on both the Stick and the blood meter.i chickened out and put him on a LCHF diet (100G of Crabs). It Broke my heart.

Give it more time, some need a long time before they come into ketosis. To go back to LCHF, with that much carbs, will probably only make it take even longer.

Thank you for your reply, i thought you get into ketosis once you deplete all you glycogen stores in the liver, once you do that your body must find another source of energy and therefore taps into your FFA (Free Fatty Acid) to provide most of your energy needs, the brain and some other organs can not use FFA and there some are driven to the Liver for the production of Ketones to provide most of the energy there.

Assuming that he is getting all his energy needs from the fat that he is eating and his body is utilizing that as energy , he would still be required to produce ketones to feed the Brain.

I am afraid that for some reason beyond my comprehension his body is unable to convert FFA to Ketones and instead is using protein to produce Glucose (gluconeogenisis). if that is the case i am worried that the fat that he is consuming is only being accumulated as FFA and not used , which would be dangerous in a way.

There must be a way we can find out… i had him do an inbody measurement, which i have with me. he will do another one tom. i would think if his body fat has decreased but maintained (or slightly lost ) some Muscle Mass this would indicate that he is burning fat and not protein. if it was the orther way around , more body fat and a loss of Muscle Mass then it should confirm my concerns…

The fact the his LDL is High, his triglycerides are High and his HDL is Low adds more concern tome.

Apologies for this long email , l was just thinking out loud.

I believe everyone can produce ketones, otherwise we can“t cope starvation and then we die. Maybe your friend could try fasting for a few days. Then he will know that his body can produce ketones. Can he be eating too much protein?

We did try a fat fast that consisted of BP Coffee in the Morning ,eggs cooked in Butter in the evening with a spoon of cream cheese. we did it for three days but still nothing.

Seems strange. I“m too high in bloodsugar and that ofcourse effects the ketones. The higher bloodsugar, the lower ketones, but never under 0,7 though. I got the rekommendation to do 18 hour fasting every day and to drink applecidervinagar before every meal. Does he get any other reaktions from ketosis? Like feeling really good, bad breath or something? Can there be something wrong with your keton tests?

I did test his BG 104 on two machines. his did feel he lost some inches but nothing on the scale. after this he was wishing he would get the ā€œKeto Fluā€.we did replenish his electrolytes with water sodium (Salt) Potassium (Avocado mainly) and supplemented with Mg.

Before the Fat Fast we did try the 16/8 IF (but with a BP Coffee).

I am telling you it is driving me up the wall.

I believe you! ItĀ“s super strange and you seem to be doing it all so correct. IĀ“ll get back if I get any more ideas but…it beats me!

My problem is being in ketosis but not losing weight or any inches, but I“m working on it, small adjustments might work.

Thanks for all your help… I found out that a 36 hour fast does the trick. I had two Bp coffee that helped with energy levels. Good luck.
