Creatinine and GFR

Hi y’all! So I will get right to it. I had to go to the doctor for a severe cough a couple days ago. She ran llabs and Xrays. Turns out its bronchitis but that’s not my concern. After reading my blood work, she told me I have high Creatinine and low GFR suggesting that the kidney labs are off. She said it could be BC I was dehydrated… Of course being Keto, I am plenty hydrated so I askednwhat else could cause it. Her answer: too much protein. WHAT?? So I had to schedule a follow up to do blood work again in 2-3 weeks (after I finish meds for bronchitis). What do I do if the doctor tells me to not do Keto? Or to add more fruits or whatever?? I am not ready to give up my Keto. What should I tell the doctor to respectfully decline the option of quitting keto? Is this seriously a cause for kidney lab work to be off? Thank you in advance for any input!!

Just remember, eating sugar (aka carbs) will cure nothing. If protein is the problem, cutting back does not mean giving up Keto. Keto is low/no carb, fat and protein as required. Once you find out exactly what’s the problem, google it plus Keto to see turns up.

As @amwassil says. Keto is low carb, medium protein and high healthy fats so you can manipulate that to your healthy levels.
Good luck, I wish you well!

My GFR was trending down, despite doing all the easy stuff to get it back up, including drinking a gallon of water a day, extra.

What essentially brought it back to normal was cutting back all the crappy coffee my work provides, and limiting myself to just a couple of them, or a couple french pressed carafes over the morning, up until noon.
