Coworker with Diabetes ordered 5 guys without the bun

#1

He usually orders a little burger and fries, but today he mentioned he was ordering a burger without the bun. (I wonder if this has anything to do with me ordering a burger bowl on Friday  )

5 minutes after eating he goes “Well that explains it. It’s the bun that makes you feel like total crap after. I ate that burger without the bun today and I feel fine”…

I smiled inside, but I refrained from mentioning anything about keto.

He also asked if I wanted some of his fries  which I politely declined.

I have tried to explain this very thing to my husband, but so far he will not part with the buns lol!

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #3

I like big buns and I cannot lie . . .

I hate it when we order Five Guys for the family, because their fries are far too good, and I usually have to avert my eyes for a couple of days, or else throw them out when no one is looking . . .

I keep hearing about this 5 guys place but have never been in one. My town built one recently, I need to check this place out!

I’m not a fan and I hate their fries! LOL

All this Five Guys talk lately made me head there for dinner Sunday. I got my burger wrapped in lettuce this time and it was so yummy! (They swaddled it in iceberg like a baby!)

In addition to the bun making you feel like crap, has anyone else noticed that they also make your hands smell like crap - like for hours? I don’t know if it’s the bun, or whatever grease fast food places use, but I had developed an aversion to fast food burgers even before keto because of this. Once you hold onto it, it’s impossible to wash the smell off. Homemade burgers don’t do this. Another keto cure, eating a bunless burger with a fork has eliminated the problem.
