The Blaze is was Fitbit’s first smartwatch. The Iconic is their newest one. I’m a bit of a wearables geek so I own several smartwatches and fitness bands. Right now (subject to change), my daily drivers are a Samsung Gear S3 on my right wrist and and a Charge 2 on my left.

Fitbit makes great trackers, but they’re new at smartwatches, and it shows. I haven’t seen the Ionic in person yet, but from the reviews, its lackluster. If you’re in the market for a $300+ smartwatch, I’d suggest an Android Wear watch, Apple Watch, Samsung, or Garmin (especially if you’re a runner) over the Iconic.

If you’re a MyFitnessPal user and the tracker you use is compatible, it will upload some of its data to the site. For example, adjusting calories to according to activity level. Ditto with weight and %BF if you use a compatible smart scale.

Be warned, its a slippery slope. Before you know it you’ll be importing your stats into spreadsheets and find yourself spending hours crunching the numbers instead of watching tv…

I love FitBit products and the ionic will be my fourth. From what I’ve seen about it, it’ll suit me perfectly.

The MFP app was removed from my phone a couple of weeks ago as I hadn’t used it since July and have no intention of going back to tracking.

What will you track with the FitBit Ionic?

Only exercise. I don’t track food / calories anymore at all. There’s a food tracker on my current FitBit but never used it.
