Neat little article short and sweet.
Cool little article from the webs
And may be we’ll have this guy around drawing for us for a few more years. He admits to not exercising. The problem no exercise is that burning fat usually means some lean mass goes too and the older you are the harder it is to get back and that’s only going to happen with exercise.
This Spring I started using my entire 80 minutes of breaks and lunch to walk. Instead of going up and down the street I’m marching around our 125,000 square foot building to challenge others to join me–and it’s finally starting to happen. Out of the 150-200 people who work in the building I think half a dozen are giving it a try. It helps that one of them is the head builder/supervisor. They are a bit sheepish and self conscious, not sure yet if it is cool (I get occaisional honks from cars going by on the street). They’ll get over that. Between walking on the shop floor and on breaks I’m typically getting 5 miles good for about 450 calories at my body weight.
I thought it was very encouraging. I honestly like being indoors, sedentary and in my house. I get out to garden and tend the chickens and shop when I have to, plus a few social events. Yes, I know it feels great to exercise, I’ve been “into it” before. Maybe I’ll get there again. Yes, I believe it’s healthier, that it’s one of the keys to a long and healthy life. But I love this guy for refuting the idea that exercise or starvation are your only two choices when it comes to dropping some pounds and improving your health.
