Cooking with a family

(Kristin) #1

I’m planning on starting keto Monday. I’m doing meal planning now and as I’m selecting recipes most are high in fat and calories. Not a problem for keto, but is my family who’s not doing keto going to gain weight? I plan on them doing keto type meals for breakfast and dinner, but my son will have a sandwich at school. He’s only 7 but he doesn’t need to be gaining weight. Having him on keto isn’t an option.

I’ve been cooking Keto meals for my large family for almost 7 months. They haven’t cut their carbs and haven’t shown any weight gain.

You can get low carb wraps instead of sandwich bread, but at 7, he should be eating normally for growth and health.

Normally doesn’t mean candy and soda everyday, but homemade oat biscuits and fresh juice are a better option. Water melon can sweeten a juice without adding more sugary fruits. In fact watermelon and strawberry blended together is very nice.

Nix the juice. It’s higher than soda in sugars and is pure fructose. Have him eat his fruit not drink it. This is 100% juices.
