Cold brew coffee

(AnnaLeeThal) #1

Does anyone else love cold brew coffee? I follow the Pioneer Woman recipe to make a big batch.

As I’m preparing for Dairy Free February I am thinking that cold brew is going to be the way to go, that way I can just toss some coconut cream in there and call it good. Speeds up my morning too.

I make cold brewed coffee, it’s my preference. I like it with some cinnamon added

I’ve not done cold brew, but on the dairy free front, I’ve been experimenting with dropping my usual HWC from my morning coffee to better support my IF efforts. One change I made in brewing my coffee of late is adding cinnamon, some cayenne pepper, and a bit of kosher salt when I brew.

The resulting coffee tastes better without HWC than the coffee alone. I still add some sweetener, but not a whole lot on mornings that I’m doing IF.

I do this too. I make it up once a week. I ditched the coffee pot, and freed up real estate on the counter.

In the morning I heat 2 cups in the microwave with butter. I add MCT Oil and blend with a stick blender. I heat it in a Pyrex 4 cup measuring cup so I don’t have spill over when I blend.

I love cold brew. I usually treat it as a summer treat, but this is making me miss it!

I like the Dunkin Donuts dark cold brew coffee, its good in the summer… Ice tea gets old, its nice to mix it up… though since going Keto at the end of summer I’ve not had it, though I imagine when its hot and we are out I’ll revisit this old friend provided they still offer it… I used to drink my coffee black, no sweetener either, though going Keto I started w/the BBC…

I make my own and have it every single day.

I’ll be making it part of my food prep routine i suppose. It really was quite nice to be able to just grab it and go this morning.

Love cold brew. We just got a new burr grinder, so all set. I like cold brew for warmer weather though. How do you blend in coconut cream?

I love cold brew. :heart::heart::heart:

(AnnaLeeThal) #11

I have a milk frother. Or a stick blender

How does one make cold brew? I suppose I could google it, but I trust you guys!

Look up the Pioneer Woman recipe. It’s very easy

we love cold brew coffee. Here in New England we drink iced coffee year round. Will look at PW’s recipe too.

My recipe is 1.5 cups coffee to 5 cups of water. In let it sit for at least 12 or up to 24 hours. I filter it with a French press and then through a coffee filter. It’s fairly concentrated.

#16

Love it in summer but usually add hwc

@roxanne I first used the Pioneer Woman method too, but got even lazier and started using my French Press instead. Makes less at one time, but produces the same concentrate, and without the straining, etc. Just coffee grounds, cold water into the press, then I put it in the fridge for 12 - 8 hours, press it, and there you go. I don’t drink it every day, so about two of these batches per week does me fine!
