Christmas and when to start?

Anyone tried to start Keto with a house full of Christmas food?

I was planning on starting today.

I started November 3rd. I gave almost all my food away to friends and family and started over with all new keto groceries.

Wish I could do that but the kids would kill me :O)

Oh yeah, I did set aside a box of snacks and treats for my kid to snack on when she’s over, but for the most part she likes the keto meals I’ve been whipping up (and doesn’t even know they’re keto or that I’m even on a diet, yet). For example: Who can say no to eggs and bacon for breakfast instead of sugary cereal?

mmm bacon

Thanksgiving through Christmas. I baked, received gifts of cookies, went to parties… Stayed keto. Was surprisingly easy, but I’m an all-in or all-out kind of person. I can’t open the door to a bite or I binge. Now would be a good time for you to stretch your resolve though. :grinning:

I am the same I cannot eat one cookie it will be the whole box!

@FrankUnderWood Sounds as though you’re in the same boat as someone who needs to get sober in a house where others drink. It can be done, though it isn’t always easy.

I have to admit I’ve been disappointed in myself this Christmas. I haven’t been too outrageous—yet—but the temptation to binge on sugar gets stronger with every bit of carbohydrate I allow myself. I got some dark chocolate as a holiday treat, and now I find myself eyeing my dad’s pannetone and my sister’s chocolate truffles, and craving carbs generally. I’m only ever a mouthful away from a binge to begin with, and I’ve been getting too close to the line. So far, I’ve been overdoing it mostly with pepperoni and pork rinds, but I could easily demolish that box of cookies that seems to know my name . . . . :frowning:

Ah well, time to KCKO. At least tonight we’re going out for steak. That will help.

@PaulL

Lol that did make me laugh, I cannot do moderation and you are totally correct! Like you say ‘I’m only ever a mouthful away from a binge to begin with’!

Do the pork rinds help?

My fitbit scales turned up yesterday. I weighed myself this morning to see the damage 14st 3lbs BMI of 32 and 33% body fat! So I have 45lbs to loose. I also bought a Ketonix, which I have charged up ready to start using in a couple of days.

I have started to today with my partner, she is wants to loose 8lbs and has a BMI of 22! Like she needs to loose anything!

@Ah-tee she is not on the forums yet, maybe if she gets into Keto she will join the forum.

Well if you have kids in the house, they are not going to go away-whenever you start keto. Maybe try to reorganize pantry/kitchen so you do not have to look at tempting non-keto foods. Also, find the “keto” foods they enjoy and get them excited about having those items.

Also, anytime you see some sort of non-keto foods-especially the more appealing, repeat the word poison and then think of all the ways that food is bad for you. Really make a case against it.

Somebody, when I was bitching about a really delicious fruitcake my dad left out for all of us, suggested thinking of it as “deathcake.” It worked! I’ll have to track down the thread and thank him.

@FrankUnderWood The pork rinds do help, as long as I don’t binge on them . . .

Death cake I like it, The Empire Death Cake!

Had pork rinds yesterday with cheese for lunch yesterday, they did the trick nicely!
