Cholesterol cluelessness

(icky) #1

Hey guys,

I got some blood levels back today, including cholesterol and I don’t have a clue.
I don’t even know which one is the good one and which one is the bad one.

My results are:
HDL 57 mg/dl (and the comment printed next to the result says this is too low)
LDL 126 mg/dl (comment says in normal range but high)
LDL/HDL ratio 2.2 (comment says this is good)
Triglycerides 73 mg/dl (comment says this is good)

Are these results good/ bad/ normal?

Thank you!!

HDL is the good and those are awesome numbers.

Maybe help you learn what the numbers mean

Thank you!

I have plenty of chronic health issues, so if cholestorol isn’t one of them, that is a relief!

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #5

One of the indicators of the risk of heart disease is the ratio of trigclycerides to HDL. Your ratio is well below the upper limit of 2.0, so it is very good. You are fine.

Thank you Paul

One less thing to worry about!

Fantastic numbers all the way around. For me, i would want higher LDL - but then I am not a doctor, I am just a big fan of cholesterol!

CW: those numbers are awesome, your Dr will be very pleased. No needing to put you on statins.

But I am with Rajseth: I can’t unknow what I know: the higher the cholesterol the better. So, I would say, eat more saturated fat, you aren’t trying hard enough! :joy:
Cheers
Alec

I’m doing by best, lol. Just starting out. 8 weeks into Keto

Hope to impress you with a higher LDL level with next time’s lab results :joy:

For God’s sake don’t tell your Doc!! He’ll spiral into the CW vortex…

My doc is used to me doing whatever the heck I want. Occasionally I will consult him, but he knows who’s in charge of my health and that it ain’t him.

Poor guy

I am sure he gets well paid!
