Cheeseburger Crack Slaw

(Jeremy Storie) #21

I have once before when I ate too much of a pork shoulder roast but my wife tells me I have an iron gut. There’s not a lot that bothers it.

Ingenious! Mmmm

Made this the other day, it was pretty good. I had some left over. Due to the fat, it solidified into a solid block. It made it easier to eat cold.

Made this last night, I halved the recipe and split it for my wife because of the protein. I added a little butter to mine. It was great.

Wanted to say this recipe is amazing

Thanks Saphire for bringing this recipe back to life … cabbage gives me pain but I still wanta try it !

Yummo!

Yeah, cabbage is one of those plants I can’t figure out. Cooking it helps, but sometimes I can eat it even raw (think coleslaw) and I feel okay, but other times, I eat it and feel not okay.

Sometimes, I think it might be how much I eat. If I eat a little, that’s okay; if I eat a lot, that’s not.

I have made it twice since you bumped the old thread. Thanks! @Saphire

First time I used mayo, second time subbed cream cheese. Both were good, liked the cream cheese better but it definitely was richer and more filling, so the 95-lb puppy got more leftovers this time

Made it again tonight. So good.

Here it is with just the hamburger and slaw:

And after adding the seasonings, cheese, cream cheese and mustard:

And with the crumbles bacon on top:

So rich I could only eat a small bowl.

One of these days I simply must make that!

(Jane) #32

It would be just as good w/o the cabbage!

Can you have small amounts of onions and dill pickles? It actually uses dried onion flakes (just a tsp) but has 3 Tbl of diced dill pickles, which along with the mustard gives it a “cheeseburger” flavor.

I actually don’t use cabbage much at all anymore. I like to mix the ingredients minus the meat mixture with shredded iceberg lettuce and top it off with the cooked meat and onions and sometimes some sliced soft boiled egg. It’s more of a cheeseburger salad and the iceberg lettuce is easier on my digestive system.
