Cheese, nuts and coffee

For those of us who discovered keto via YouTube, finding answers to our daily keto problems seem to be challenging. This is where a forum such as this becomes a lifesaver.
I have just joined the forum (with a bloated stomach, a strange thing resembling keto flu, a few extra pounds around my belly, and a lot of questions) and have already have been able to find answers to what I might do to address these issues.
One of my major concerns is finding an answer to the coffee, cheese and nuts question.
I live in a remote town in India where one needs to depend on Amazon to deliver a bottle of virgin coconut oil in fifteen days. What I mean is, my available fat source is primarily dairy based. I am not intolerant to lactose. And besides, I love cheese. While Dr. Berg approved of cheese nuts and coffee, Stephanie Keto Person on YouTube does not.
A. Should I give up cheese for a better result?
I am 5’1, currently weight 47-48 KGS. I went down to 42 but started gaining weight during the holidays.
I need to lose weight.
B. I get peanuts and almonds in the local market. Are peanuts dangerous? How high on carb are they?
C. I prefer black coffee. Hive decided to give it up and see if it makes a difference.
Let me know your opinions.

Hello! You can certainly have coffee on the keto diet. I drink it everyday. Since being on keto I have also been adding heavy cream to it as well when I need the extra fat. Cheese is also good too but just make sure you don’t get too much protein from it by eating a block of it a day : Mixed nuts? Also good especially macadamia nuts. Nuts have carbs so don’t go overboard. Check the label. I would also recommend reading the Ketogenic Bible available on amazon in paperback or digital. It is FULL of information and can probably answer any questions you may have about the diet. Good luck and take care!

Do you keep your carbs under or at 20g and moderate protein and high fat until satiety

What causes a stall

  1. Not enough Fat - 60% to 80% Fat - more Fat will accelerate Fat Adaptation

  2. Too much Insulin
    A) - Keep Carbs (Net) at or under 20g
    B) - Too many meals (snaks count) keep to a maximum of 3 meals
    C) - Eating window too large it should be 8Hrs. maximum the smaller the better

  3. Calorie restriction causes the body to go into starvation mode
    A) Ladies should eat at least 1500Kcals to 2000kcals Macros 5 / 22 / 73
    B) Men should eat at least 2000Kcals to 2500kcals Macros 5 / 25 / 70

  4. Lean Protein - Keto is ‘Moderate Protein’. Lean meat is high in Protein and low in fat. ‘Fatty Meat is Moderate in Protein and Moderate to High in Fat’ and preferable.

  5. Water Weight
    A) The body retains lots of water on a SAD diet- On a Ketogenic WOE the first weight loss is most likely water weight.
    B) Keep water at two liters a day until Fat Adapted.

  6. Some within 40 Lbs or less of their Ideal Weight/BMI tend to struggle with results. Have patience you will see results.

I personally stay away from peanuts
Better options, like the macadamia nuts you mentioned!

You referenced Dr Berg too😄
So here you go…

Thanks! I do keep track and keep my net carbs below 20 gms. However, I thought I should not be counting my leafy veggies in that 20 gms (as suggested by Dr berg in his YouTube videos).

I do tend to over eat if I have a bowl of nuts within my reach, so that’s alarming.

I’ve been on keto for seven months, have come down from 67 KGS to 42 KGS, and over the last month, gained five KGS back.

Yes, my weight loss has become slower gradually. But now it seems impossible.

I tried doing the egg fast, but couldn’t be happy. Didn’t drop a pound. Probably because I’m on my periods.

Your ok with eating as much as you want of low carb veggies its virtually impossible to over eat them, just make sure they are low carb

Limit nuts to 2oz a day
Limit cheese to 4oz a day
Black coffee should be fine

Try IF(OMAD) or EF(36-48hours)

Thanks! I do OMAD. On the days that I can’t , I usually get a little snack but definitely fast for 18 hours.

How many tablespoons would 4 oz of cheese be?

(Dan Dan) #9

5.67 tablespoons or 113.4g
