Hello everyone. I am finally seeing results on my body after 7 weeks on Keto. One thing i have to say is that too many people are saying they lose weight fast on this diet. i actually think its different for everyone. I was wondering what the optimal range is and how to stay in deep ketosis?
Checking blood keytones
Many lose a lot of water weight early on, as the body converts to ketosis.
While the reality is much more complicated, two “rules of thumb”:
- A pound of fat represents about 3500 calories
- Walking a mile burns up about 100 calories
At the simplest level, that means you need about a 3500 CICO deficit for every pound you lose. From reduction in calories eaten, or an increase in exercise. That means you cannot lose real weight fast. Any fast weight loss or gain will be mostly water and/or the change in the amount of food in the intestinal tract.
Hi Sharon. So nice to hear your are starting to see results! It definitely takes some people longer than others to start losing weight. The extent of our metabolic damage has a lot to do with how long it takes for our hormones to start behaving right. Other factors might be age, medications, stress, not eating enough food, eating too often and even what sex we are.
Either you are in ketosis or your are not. Your body will decide when to increase ketone production as it sees fit. If you are testing your blood ketones, you might find that your levels are lowest after eating or right when you wake up. The numbers are likely higher when you haven’t eaten for a while. The whole process is self-regulating and based on the energy needs of your body.
Just keep doing what you are doing if you are seeing good results.
