Cheater Cheater Carb eater who lost weight?

So I had two horrible cheat meals this weekend. One was some pita chips with spinach dip, a small slice of bread with cinnamon honey butter, a few pieces of fried shirmp, a steak with mashed potatoes and four bites of chocolate cake and two cocktails. I expected to feel horrible the next day, like a keto flu, but all I had was some bloat after eating and a mild headache. The next morning I felt fine and fasted, planning on a large keto dinner…but then ended up out with the girls and had an even worse cheat of a pasta meal and bread and another cocktail. This cheat meal caused bloating and a bit of brain fog…but the next morning I felt 100% again. I was really surprised that I did not feel like complete crap. I ate no carb on Sunday and fasted in the evening with no issues this morning either. Does this mean I might be fat adapted? The only other cheat I had was when I first was trying keto and felt like death the entire weekend after some pizza and cheese bread.
Why am I not feeling sick from carbs anymore? I was able to jump right back into Keto Sunday and feel great today, I almost feel better than if I didn’t cheat and ended up dropping another two pounds…very strange.
Any input other than Keep Calm and Keto On? Why would I be still losing while cheating?

I am new on Keto. How long had you been on Keto?
Do yo gain weight?

I have been strict keto for a little over a month, so I am new as well. I did bloat after my meal, but did not gain weight from me cheats. I did lose two pound on my weekly weigh in Sunday, but inches did not move at all. My guess is that I lost more weight and inches before cheating and did gain some kind of weight or inches from my cheats. I am not looking to make cheating a habit and would highly recommend not cheating on this diet. I am more curious as to if this might mean I am fat adapted. I have heard of carb ups but am not too familiar with frequency or the reasoning behind them.

I would say yes, you’re fat adapted, and your fasting regimen quickly depleted the glycogen buildup from your forays into carbivorian country. Now, go forth and carb no more! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Now this is a personal opinion/experience. You got away with it apparently, but don’t be fooled into thinking you could keep doing this (say every weekend) and not have it catch up with you. Carb creep for me is dangerous as it eventually rolls over into an every meal ever day thing eventually.

Many people can eat carbs without it causing symptoms. Although not popular in this forum, some folks do cyclical keto or carb loading. Dr Pompa and Dr Mercola, for example, are LC diet advocates but don’t think being ketogenic 100% of the time leads to maximum metabolic flexibility.

Fasting can accommodate a lot of diet variability while still fixing metabolic derangement. Dr Fung says many of his patients don’t follow a LC diet.

I’ve been good since the start and I want to have a cheat meal so bad. But I don’t want to deal with the guilt of it. I don’t think one cheat meal will destroy my progress at all, but I at least want to make it to six months before I can be bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

6 months or getting <200lbs is my goal for a lone carb blowout… if I don’t have one Krispy Kreme soon, what will I live on in 10 years… isn’t that how it works?

That Krispy Kreme is always with us
