I know this is an over discussed topic. I’m Just looking for others experience and Opinions. I typically eat 1-2% carbs but once a month i enjoy a totally sinful cheat meal, not a day but one meal. Typically pizza. I never have an issue getting on track the next day. I do it cause i want to not cause i feel a craving but a sence " i do it cause i can ". I feel no ill effect. Anyone else do this and whay are your experiences?
Thanks
Cheat meal
If you can do it and feel no ill effect then do it. If you have specific medical reasons for being on this diet and enjoying pizza once a month is getting in the way of it the reconsider. But for you it does not seem to have ill effect.
You may wish to have some Apple Cider vinegar before and after the meal to lessen the glucose impact. Also just watch out that is stays at once a month and does not start to set you off the course. Otherwise know yourself. If you can do that and it works. For others one meal would set them off, for others if they don’t have something they can’t keep it up. Work with you.
No specifics needs except that i feel better on high protien, very low carb… I just enjoy a pizza occasionally like some like chocolate.
Sounds great. When I hit a couple more goals I intend to experiment with the same, though with how good carlshead pizza is, I imagine I will “cheat” predominantly with something else (mmm donuts
).
I wouldn’t even call it a cheat. The Keto WoE is just a means to an end… becoming metabolically healthy (unless you have a lifelong vendetta against pigs… but that’s a whole other problem ). If you have or are achieving that goal and you are more metabolically flexible so that you can eat ‘crappy’ carbs once in a while (or even more often), then more power to you.
I sincerely hope that I get to the stage where I can eat 50-100g of carbs a day and be healthy since that will be an informed choice in a safe context. That is no cheat!
I do see some folks (mostly in other internet keto resources) being a little too militant about 20g without understanding the context of the individual situation.
I agree, for me it’s the psychological impact rather than the biochemical
I do a cheat meal once in a while with popcorn with lots of butter or sweet potato fries. I don’t get too crazy but in 24hrs I’m usually back in ketosis. My body doesn’t feel bad the day after too.
I just remembered one ancestral health personal trainer who also enjoyed a monthly night out to the best pizza place in town. If you are going to do it, make sure it is the best quality you can find!
