Cheat meal or cheat day?

So im pretty new to keto, I bought the urine strips and know that ive been in it for awhile now but this morning i woke up and just needed to cheat and ate a burger with fries. bumped me right out of ketosis. Now my question is does it matter how many carbs I eat for the rest of the day seeing how im out of it anyway? or would that put me further out. thanks.

Yes.

Don’t use that as an excuse.
You had your fun, now get back on plan.

thanks

lol its not an excuse, im just wondering scientifically if anything changes if you have 50g of carbs or 200g of carbs in one day, once youre out of ketosis is it the same time to get back into it either way?

Sorry, didn’t mean to offend you.
Quantity matters. Like most physiological processes, it’s not an on/off switch, it’s graduated.

no offense taken, ive googled this question and nothing has come up so i appreciate the response haha.

As someone who is only in month four, I can say this…take your time transitioning to Keto. If you’re not ready to fully commit, creeping in and back out can really slow your progress. Also I don’t know if you have insulin problems but cheating can spike that insulin pretty high. You want to really deplete those glycogen stores and give your body time to build those healthy fat burning enzymes. Cheating with the excess carbs just sets you back.

Even though you blew your carbs for the day, you can still jump back into ketosis with a little exercise and maybe some IF. Especially if you go right back to Keto. If you do have slips, keep them to one meal. You can recover and your slips may not be as bad as you think. Sorry if I’m telling you stuff you already know. We’re all here for you and you will be successful. Best of luck to you

It will make things worse as you’ll have even more glycogen stores to get rid of before your body will get back into ketosis.

Not only does how much matter, but how much time it is spread over matters. Carbs cause an insulin reaction in healthy people that is exadurated in those who are insulin resistant. The higher or longer that spike of insulin the more damage is done.

Keep Calm and Keto on.
