Cheat meal keto-style

Hey everyone

I have been strict keto for 5 weeks now and feel great. My birthday is coming up in 2 weeks time and I was wondering the following.

If I have a keto pizza, followed by a keto dessert and say my carbs end up at 50 net for the day, will it be considered a cheat meal? I mean, it should not knock me out of ketosis (not for long anyway).

Has anyone tried this? Instead of having a real cheat meal (which I have no cravings for not see any benefits in it) , I instead choose to just have more keto friendly “guilty food”

I have done both, real cheat meals/days (usually planned in advance); and going over my ideal carbs on keto, just because that’s what my body wanted that day (this option usually self-regulates and I don’t end up eating an excessive amount of carbs), but I am definitely NOT going to sweat it if I need the occasional extra 10g or even 20g (rare) of carbs to help me stay the course. 50g is not that bad, and depending on your body, there’s a chance you could even stay in ketosis at that level.

Great advice. Thanks a lot.

Apparently, based on the old Dreamfields scam, I went way over my carb level many many times, during my best two year keto period.

It wasn’t a problem.

Your mileage may vary, but you will never know until you try.

YMMV but once a month I visit friends for the weekend and hit 50 - 60g but stay in ketosis, haven’t really carbed up though. You can but try, N=1, if it really affects you don’t do it for a while.

A single 50g-60g day type event is very likely a non-issue. It’ll likely not even kick you out of ketosis.

Enjoy the food!
