Change in body shape, anyone?

This is probably wishful thinking, but I’d be interested to know if anyone who has lost significant weight on keto has noticed a change in their body shape.

I don’t mean from puff-ball to stick figure (although, that is very impressive) - I’m thinking pear-shaped to athletic.

Even at my lightest, I still had heavy thighs. I’m wondering (AKA wishing, hoping, praying) if a keto diet would change this.

Years ago, my sister (same body shape) lost heaps of weight - ribs and bones sticlkng out all over the place - but still kept chunky thighs. Most frustrating for her.

Hello! I have lost 32 lbs since mid June. Other than taking walks, I don’t “work out”. My shape has changed…but I still have some of my inherited “padunkadunk”, although not as large!! I don’t mind my feminine curves…and neither does my husband of 35 years!!

Congratulations on your weight loss, @Rebj.
I don’t work out either and can’t imagine I ever will (but I should never say never).
My femine curves are in the wrong place at present. :no_mouth:

I think we all keep our general shape. I had a friend who had heavy thighs and she had liposuction. It worked. She looked great. I think in case of problems like this, only liposuction would be effective.

Drats! I was hoping for the magic pill.

I went almost a year with no weight loss after having lost almost 70#s in the first 8 months of keto. Even with no loss, I still went down several clothes sizes, from 20 to 16. Definite changes in body composition. I did ‘weekend warrior’ hiking throughout the summer and fall, but no daily exercise or weights or cardio. Throughout the year I heard "wow, you just keep losing weight’ ~ which was frustrating, but also a sign the process was working on levels other than fat loss.

Hang in there, trust the process

Thanks @Paendora. If any change in core body shape is going to happen, I suspect it would be when I’m much closer to my ideal weight. That is still 80+ lb away.

not necessarily! I’m still 40#s from goal weight!

I have always said I had “thunder thighs”. I credit my cousin for the term LOL.

After I reached my goal weight my thighs were still big. I started extending fasting for health and loose skin every month- 72 hours at a time.

My husband commented on how thin my legs were above my knees and each month the “shrinkage” moved a few inches up. It is a VERY slow process but it works for me. I still have people comment on my weight loss even though I haven’t lost anything in over a year, but I must look more toned. At age 61 that is a great accomplishment!

My thighs don’t touch at the top anymore, even though I still have plenty of fat on my rear and according to my BMI - still overweight. Don’t care. I feel great.

Sure

Went from a sorta diamond :diamonds: shape-ish
To more of an upside down triangle shape-ish for my upper body
(However …Thinner lower torso and legs section…working on that with weight training)

Mostly , Due to weight loss around the love handle area and lower back
So, shoulders appear wider I guess now🙂
Kinda cool

Keto Morphism NSV🤣

Sounds very positive. I’m looking forward to being able to wear skirts again (without chaffing).
I just tried on a top in my fav and usual shop. Had to get a size down for the first time. Yay!

I am still amazed at how much faster I can walk w/o my upper thighs rubbing together!

Yay on the smaller top!!! Nice NSV. I started in XL tops and remember when I picked up a M top and snorted and said “NO WAY!!!” Yes, way. It fit. Happened a couple of times before I believed my new shape. Occasionally I have to go up to a L - just depends on the shirt. I have an S in my closet but probably a men’s size. Bought at a watermelon festival so don’t know, but it fits me nicely.

I was a big boned pear before, now am still big boned (lolol) but more of an hourglass. Fat from upper legs and behind has burned off in inches, and my upper body is more muscled.

The postmenopausal body wants to become an apple - so I’m trying to thwart its subQ belly fat storage in as many ways possible. I still have the equivalent of 2-3 apple fritters of subQ fat below my belly button (aka the menopot, which ranges in size depending on various factors), and they may not be going anywhere, not sure. :joy:

I’ve worked on my diastasis recti diligently for over 7 month via Julie Tupler RN’s belly healing program (involving 24/7 splint wearing and daily transverse muscle strengthening exercises) which has helped, along with regular collagen + Vit. C. I’ve also been incorporating more and more of biomechanist Katy Bowman’s postural and movement guidance related to healing the core muscles and DR. My next phase will be using a more structured compression item just during the day - because I’ve had it with wearing a belly splint at night - and continuing the daily seated exercise (they make me glow anyway, so that’s good).
