CDC Diabetes Prevention Program! Eh, maybe not

I recognize that this isn’t new news, but The US Center for Disease Control (CDC) has established the “Diabetes Prevention Program”. This program mandates a set of educational and support activities for any organization that wants to offer a CDC-certified diabetes prevention program. Sounds great, right? Maybe not.
The program description page is at: https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/prevention/index.html
The training curriculum for the program mandates that all participants be taught several subjects, including such things as:

  • Be a Fat and Calorie Detective
  • Three Ways to Eat Less Fat and Fewer Calories, and
  • Tip the Calorie Balance

If you are pre-diabetic this might be worth checking out. Just be aware that it seems to be based on the CICO model.

Pre-diabetics are just as insulin resistant as full blown type 2’s. Their organ damage just hasn’t progressed as far yet. The high carb low fat “diabetes prevention diet” will just hurry it along a little faster
