Anyone doing Dr. Berry’s 30 day carnivore challenge?
Carnivore challenge
It’s on his Facebook group. I can’t copy the link. Theres an hour long video. I haven’t had time to watch, so I’m kinda in the dark.
Dang, I don’t have FB. Wonder if anyone will watch it, maybe there’s a youtube of it somewhere.
There is a video on YouTube that he does, its not a challenge, though. He and his wife were in the video on FB. I still haven’t watched it all. From what I watched, it doesn’t give you instruction on what to avoid , other than the obvious…Carbs! Lol
Oh, his wife is “Neisha loves it” on YouTube.
I haven’t seen his video, but if I’m to give any suggestion on the first 30 days is to splurge a bit on your meat. Frugality is easier to work in later, but treat yourself the first 30 days and I think you’ll be more successful and satisfied
I find it a weird time to be doing the challenge. I don’t eat much vegetables very often and I am pretty close to carnivore, but my garden is finally in bloom. I have garden cucumbers! Bell peppers are almost ready! Harvest time is coming up. Seasonally, this is when we should be loading up to prepare for winter! I am hoping to do my own full on carnivore challenge in October/November.
I’ve thought about this but it does seem like it would be difficult for me personally. I always have greens with my omad eating pattern and I tend to gravitate to the greens first. Then again I said that doing Keto would be hard too and that was 7 months and 45 lbs ago. Never say never.
I’ve not seen the challenge, but I’m on my second week of carnivore after falling of the keto wagon for a few months. Down 12lbs the first week and I’m feeling great. My goal is 30 days, but if things are going well, I will stay on it as long as it feels good.
@Msims,
Was it hard to get back on? How much did you put on? I ask because I have put on 4 lbs since last month. Still keto foods, but over doing my fats, eating nuts and almond butter with cream cheese! Was delicious, but not worth the weight gain. At least know I know NOT to have almond butter in the house! Lol I’m trying the carnivore. I basically do carnivore anyway. Usually just lunch has a small amount of vegs, so I don’t know if I’ll have any results.
So I just did a bit of quick reading on the carnivore challenge, and I have a question,
We are always telling people not to go over on their protein macros, otherwise this could cause someone to come out of ketosis due to an insulin spike.
So how does eating nothing but meat, pure protein, not cause an insulin spike?
And more importantly, how on earth are you supposed to poop by day 4?! LOL, I’d be so bunged up if I had no greens.
I gained back 40lbs of the 70 I lost. I was keto over a year and thought I could cheat and have some beers. Turns out I have a problem with alcohol. Drink, eat carbs, eat carbs, drink. It was hard to get back on it only because we had a vacation planned and I wasn’t ready until we got back.
Carnivore get’s you close to zerocarb, so the spike is less or non-existant, you truly experience demand driven glucose. My dawn effect glucose rise hasn’t happened like it did on Keto. Also, it’s not pure protein, fat is very much a part of it.
Finally, constipation is the opposite of what happens. On full meat diet, your body absorbs most of it. You may/will have days where you don’t need to go at all. It’s not constipation, it’s lack of waste.
