Caring about Curry

How do I count the amount of carbs in my homemade curry paste?
This is for people on a carnivore/Zero Carb lifestyle.
Do you not eat even a tiny dash of hot sauce/mustard sauce/ homemade tomato puree/ onion-garlic powder or lemon to season the meat?

ZC isn’t really NO carbs - a few incidentals won’t kill you e.g. 1 per egg, 1 in a piece of cheese, 1/oz of HWC.
My sauce of choice is buffalo - lots of hot sauce, mixed with lots of melted butter and a few spices - NO carbs.

For a curry sauce, I would add up all your ingredients in MFP, see what it is per serving (not total sauce) and then look for engineering the carbs lower if it is unacceptable. Look for ingredient substitutes?

The spices should be fine (per serving)… but could you make a cream based sauce to reduce the tomato paste/onion amount? I personally wouldn’t sweat the incidentals in an engineered curry sauce. You could always plan to do some short brisk exercise after a nice curry to burn the few extra carbs?

Giving up curry is too much to bear! :scream:

Good luck.

I agree with @Capnbob, unkess your using premade brands from shops, a mixture of herbs and spices crushed in oil shoudn’t be a deal breaker. Keto-ize any curry with a tin of coconut cream and flesh!

Thank you! Yes, a spoonful of onion tomato paste can’t kill my keto goals. Thanks. Point is: I don’t get any ready to devour sauces here which aren’t full of sugar. Could you suggest a few diy recipes?

You’re asking the white guys for curry recipes…

I am not going anywhere near that

As a non ZC person, I haven’t bothered to re-engineer much if anything on the rare home-made curry. I like a creamy korma… but all have quite a lot of onion for a ZC recipe

No, not curry recipes… Recipes of sauces. Buffalo sauce, for example.

Buffalo sauce is the easiest thing ever. It is half hot sauce such as Frank’s Red Hot (US brand) and half butter.

What is your curry recipe?

My go to curry recipe is tomato puree, chopped onions, fresh cilantro, turmeric, ginger, garlic and chili blended until smooth; I usually stir fry the sauce in mustard oil with some roasted cinnamon, clove and cardamon. I also add a little HWC to it. Goes fantastically with boiled eggs and fried fish.
