OK, so you take fibre away from total carbs to get carbs eaten. What if the fibre is more than the carbs? I’m about to have my one large meal on 16:8 and have swede and carrot mash that’s 13g carb but 15.8g fibre. Is this a miracle food that’s carb neutral?
Carbs minus fibre calc
UK. Tesco (Def; A very large supermarket with World Domination ambitions).
UK labels are already showing as net carbs, the fibre is listed separately so if it says 13g it is 13g.
What @Shortstuff said. You only subtract the fiber from the carbs in the US and Canada (probably some other countries too) but NOT in the UK. The carb line IS the net carbs so that mash had 13 net carbs (non fibre carbs) and 15.8 grams of fibre on top of that.
I found out on the Love & Mud blog that in the UK they take the fibre out of the carbs and still list the fibre.
In North America, if you want total carbs, use the carb figure as given. If you want net, subtract the grams of fiber. Elsewhere in the world, if you want total carbs, add the figure for fiber. If you want net, use the carb figure as given.
