Carbs and sweets make my body ache!

My father and mother in law were here, and out of love, they bought a lot of sweets and mangoes, since it was in the fridge going to waste, and I had already reached my goal weight, I thought I could let go a little.
Alas! The second day, my body ached like I had run miles and my joints were stiff. I had a reminder of how I used to live life before keto, no kidding, I thought this was how life was supposed to be back then.
Anyone else experience the same or know the reason why this happens?

Let that be a lesson to you! But seriously, high insulin levels promote inflammation, and you’ll probably have to go some time before eating carbs will stop having quite so violent an effect. Also, and I don’t know whether it’s the insulin or the carbohydrate, but eating carbohydrate promotes water-retention, which may have had some part in the stiffness as well. And some pure speculation: it is possible that the body handles lactic acid differently under high insulin, which might explain at least part of the muscle soreness.

So I have a blood sugar testing glucometer at home and have observed that when you eat carbs while in ketosis, the blood sugar readings are more than what you might’ve got when you were acclimated to eating carbs.
Not sure why this happens though.
