Carb refeed

(Kathrine) #1

Hello guys.

Yesterday i had a carb refeed day and I ate “healthy” carbs… I know many of you guys don’t recommend it but I only have few pounds to lose so I decided to give it a try…
and waow I am feeling so so so sick today. I don’t want to eat and I decided to go for a long hike but went back home after 5-10 minutes… I’m tired and the only thing I want to do is sleep…
Even though I had a carb day my body was craving fat, fat and fat…

I’m very shocked because this is even worse than the Keto flu…

What are your experiences with carb refeeds?

Never done one yet. Given your experience, I might never try!

A lot depends on what carbs you ate, how much you ate, as well as how long it’s been since you’ve had them. If it’s been a long time and your body hasn’t been producing much Amylase, they can hit you pretty hard. If so, it’s better to introduce them occasionally and in limited amounts, such as adding a piece of fruit or two at first, ideally in the early Morning or after exercise, and not combining them with fat. After a couple of hours you can go back to eating fat.

The long term goal is to get to the point of hormonal balance when your body can utilize both carbs and fat with equal efficiency, while experiencing no ill effects.
