Carb binge

Binged on carbs tonight… Is there any way to avoid the water retention?

Nope, do the crime, pay the price!

The keto diet is not like any other diet where you can cheat / binge and then fix things the next day by being extra good.

Some people (specifically me) will take weeks to get back to where they were.

The best thing to do is get back on that horse as soon as possible and stay there. Trust me, I’ve been there and done that.

Also don’t be surprised if the carb cravings come back stronger than before, this is my personal experience.

But don’t beat yourself up about it, forgive yourself, learn and get back on things asap. Don’t use 1 cheat to justify another like I used to do. Its a horrible self defeating cycle.

Once I learnt this I soon stopped all binges!

Don’t eat the carbs?

I had ice cream cake this week. Its really the only added sugar I’ve had for months. I had two heavy beers a few weeks ago. I paid the price, but it was fine. If you are new I would not do it though just messes up the process. The deeper you go and the more fat adapted you are the better you will be able to handle a choice ( not cheat) which you know isn’t optimal. I’m at a healthy weight and body composition and I recognize that if ice cream is a never proposition I will eventually choose ice cream over healthy eating.

Me too, but I have found I am very happy with a large bowl of whipped cream, nice and thick with some vanilla essence in it and a few drops of stevia. Whip it until you get nice thick peaks, put in the fridge for a few hours and then enjoy. So close to ice cream and without that horrible sweetness. I can eat a whole bowl of it and still crave more.
